While for some people surfing is the main attraction of Playa Venao, there are plenty of other things to enjoy both on the beach itself and in the surrounding area.
Fishing
One of the biggest attractions of these pristine waters is the excellent fishing. We can hook you up with a local captain to take you out in the waters off Playa Venao or Pedasi. There is a variety of fish which can be caught year round, the most common being Yellow fin Tuna, Amberjack, Grouper, Snapper, Pacific Sailfish and Roosterfish. In the winter and spring you can also catch Bigeye Tuna, Wahoo and Dorado.
Horseback riding
Feel the breeze in your hair as you ride the length of the beach at sunset, or into the green mountains behind. The local stable owner can accommodate both beginners and experienced riders.
Yoga
Walk barefoot down the beach to the beautiful yoga deck located right on the sands of Venao. With the waves in front and the howler monkeys in the trees behind, this is probably the most perfect place you will ever practice yoga. Classes are held daily, with mats available, and yoga retreats take place at certain times of the year.(www.ranchokula.com). There is no need for any soothing wave music to help you relax on the yoga deck. Just close your eyes and listen to the rhythm of the sea.
Pedasi
The picturesque streets of Pedasi make you feel you have stepped into another world. The small brightly coloured houses, with their hammocks and rocking chairs outside, reflect the slow and easy pace of life in this charming and authentic Panamanian town. Pedasi is quiet and peaceful most of the time but livens up considerably for Carnival each February when Panamanians flock to the town from the rest of the country. As well as being a delightful place to wander around, Pedasi also has important amenities such as bank, gas, health services and food supplies.
Isla Iguana
A visit to beautiful Isla Iguana will make you think you’ve arrived in the Caribbean! Isla Iguana has pure white sand and turquoise water. Grab a mask and snorkel and swim over the coral reef to see the multitude of colourful tropical fish. This idyllic island – a protected marine park – is a short boat ride away but another world entirely.
Waterfalls
A short trip from Playa Venao takes you to a variety of waterfalls and swimming holes. Refresh yourself in the clear cool waters that tumble over the rocks. Enjoy the tropical environment around you.
